Haven Today Website Player

The Problem

The Haven of Rest has been broadcasting a message of encouragement, hope, and redemption since 1934. Now operating under the name Haven Today, the ministry reaches listeners across radio, podcasts, their website, and a mobile app.

Their website needed a better audio experience. Listeners who wanted to hear a specific program had to download files or use external tools. There was no way to listen directly in the browser, and no connection between the audio content and the ministry’s recommended resources that went along with each program. That gap was costing them both engagement and financial support.

What We Built

We rebuilt the Haven Today audio player from the ground up, integrated directly with their existing WordPress audio library. Listeners can now open any program and hear it stream immediately in the browser, with no downloads or third-party software required.

The deeper piece was the resource integration. When a listener opens a specific program in the player, the player pulls the related recommended resource from the WordPress library and surfaces it alongside the audio. A listener engaged with that day’s program can see the corresponding book, devotional, or resource and go directly to it. This gave the ministry a natural, frictionless way to drive resource purchases from the same moment a listener is most engaged with the content.

The player was built using the WordPress APIs, AmplitudeJS, and JavaScript, keeping it maintainable within Haven Today’s existing site and content workflows.

The Outcome

Listeners can now stream any Haven Today program directly from the website without installing software or downloading files. The player surfaces the related recommended resource alongside each program, giving listeners a direct path to support the ministry financially while deepening their engagement with the content.
